How Larry David and Steve Martin accept awards
Great acceptance speeches from Larry David and Steve Martin.
Wrote before about how award shows are circlejerks:
This is how comedians should feel about awards
Awards shows are circlejerks masquerading as displays of appreciation. Thus, they’re the perfect opportunity for comedians to do their whole emperor has no clothes shtick. The best acceptance speech by a comedian is Jerry Seinfeld’s “All award shows are stupid.”
Here’s some more on the topic:
Larry David accepting an award:
“This is, um, all very well and good, but I’m still bald. I’d like to, uh, thank the cast and crew of Seinfeld, and I dedicate this award to all those out there who are masters of their domain.”
And here’s Steve Martin at the 200 American Comedy Awards: "It's gonna be hard to keep from crying."
Here’s link to the original piece I wrote about this featuring thoughts on awards from Seinfeld, Ricky Gervais, Amy Poehler, and Tina Fey.
